The fishing villages of the South coast can often be forgotten about in Cornwall. When you have the ‘big dogs’ like Padstow and Rock taking the glory but there’s certainly more to the County! Mevagissey is a beautiful little village near St Austell, offering a brilliant spot to base yourself or visit for the day.
Mevagissey ticks all the boxes you’ll look for; cute windy streets, independent shops, calm harbour and those classic colourful fishing boats that you’ll never tire of photographing!
There’s a large car park just on the edge of the village, only a short walk and saves you getting lost in the narrow streets. Spend your time gently strolling the streets towards the water, there’s an abundance of unique stores to pop in too, as well as some wonderful bakeries!
On this occasion, we popped into Sharkfin, a delicious restaurant offering fresh seafood and other classics. The fish tacos were light and full of flavour, highly recommend! I’d also recommend the lovely She Sells, just round the corner, which serves ice cream, baked goods and their signature yummy crepes.
Get Mevagissey on your Cornwall road trip and be sure to take the time to stroll over to Polstreath Beach whilst you’re at it!
