Scandinavia is well known for it’s simplicity and beautiful interiors so when we started booking our trip to Copenhagen, I was very excited about all the hotel options. I set out on a mission to find something beautiful and cosy as well as walking distance to all the main spots and affordable. A big ask you’d think, but I absolutely hit the nail on the head with Axel Guldsmeden.
The Guldsmeden hotel chain has several locations across the globe with several in Copenhagen itself. They have a Balinese vibe which is absolutely beautiful as well as being an eco hotel, offering thoughtful planet friendly items within their rooms. We were staying at Axel Guldsmeden in a standard double bedroom and it was perfect for what we needed.
Axel Guldsmeden is perfectly located right off the Copenhagen Central Station metro stop. The ground floor offers a restaurant, outside seating and cosy nooks to relax as well as a beautiful spa which unfortunately we didn’t have time to make the most of! You’re walking distance to Tivoli, the meat packing district and plenty of places to eat. You can walk to Nyhavn and this area but you are also right next to a metro stop to save your feet.
Our room was a beautiful double bedroom which offered a four poster bed with gorgeous Balinese style. There was a wardrobe, vanity desk and a shower room with all the essentials you could need. We had a Juliet balcony overlooking the outside seating area.
The hotel focusses heavily on eco friendly options and it is very forward thinking. Within the room, you’re given reusable drinking bottles to fill up with water during your stay, bamboo toothbrushes and lovely washes.
Absolutely loved having this beautiful Smeg kettle in the room! They’re lucky I didn’t try and smuggle it out in my case!
I was so pleasantly surprised that I managed to find such a high end hotel within walking distance and at an affordable price! I knew Denmark was a pricey country to visit but I was so happy with this hotel. I’ll definitely be looking for them in other locations! I would highly recommend booking through their website directly as this was the cheapest option I could find.
