The Scarlet hotel is the epitome of class and chic; this hotel is based on the cliffs overlooking Mawgan Porth beach and is a luxurious adults only escape. I’ve longingly lusted over the beautiful spa and clifftop hot tubs from the beach for years but as my Mums birthday came around, it seemed to be the perfect opportunity to pop in and have a spot of afternoon tea!
Open seven days a week, The Scarlet restaurant is the most beautiful dining experience. They offer breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner to hotel guests and booking members of the public. I booked in for the afternoon tea which is served every day between 3 – 4:30pm.
Once seated in the restaurant and looking out onto the crashing waves, the afternoon tea was very promptly served. You can have it with tea or bubbles, as it was a chilly autumnal day outside, we opted for a nice warm pot of tea. The spread comes complete with crab in a brioche roll, egg and rocket sandwich, spiced lamb belly, pickled golden raisins and feta wraps and a smoked salmon and chive cream cheese blini. The sweet treats are a raspberry and pistachio nut Viennese whirl, lemon meringue tart, rhubarb and custard slice and beautifully warm fresh scones with jam and cream.
After our delicious afternoon tea, we went for an explore around the hotel to enjoy the peace and tranquility. The hotel is adults only and offers many lounges to take a seat and relax. Downstairs, the hotel houses its spa which specialises in luxury treatments. The spa itself offers an indoor pool, outdoor sauna and hot tubs, treatment rooms, meditation rooms and even an outdoor pool which is unheated and full of nature!
The Scarlet hotel is a fantastic retreat for locals or visitors to Cornwall and somewhere that offers the perfect peaceful escape for a couple, friends or family. For more information and booking, check out their website here.
