There’s very little chance that you won’t have stumbled across Artist Residence before; their interior style is instantly recognisable and absolute home goals! Artist Residence are a string of boutique hotels around the UK and one of them resides in Penzance in Cornwall. I took a trip down West for the day with my Mum to enjoy the decor and a delicious lunch in their appropriately named, The Cornish Barn.
Based on Chapel Street in the old part of town, you’ll stumble upon The Cornish Barn with their beautiful dusky blue pillars and neon light inviting you in. Once inside, The Cornish Barn offers ample seating whether you’re after breakfast, lunch, dinner or just a drink and a chat.
My Mum and I headed in for lunch and was greeted with a fantastic menu with a range of options. Mum went with the sweetcorn fitters and I picked the roasted mediterranean veg with halloumi off the specials board. We had a side of fries and homemade slaw and an iced tea. We were very satisfied – clean plates all round! The food is of fantastic quality and the warm cosy ambiance within the restaurant makes you feel so at home, you never want to leave!
Living only a few miles a way, we couldn’t justify spending the night here but boy did we want to! Artist Residence in Penzance offers 22 rooms and a cosy little cottage to stay in. The rooms are all individually decorated and they are so spectacular! If you’re heading down this way, I would highly recommend stopping if only for one night to enjoy the attention to detail these guys offer to every part of the building.
If you’re in the area, Penzance offers lovely independent shopping, a beautiful harbour and amazing unique spots such as the Jubilee Pool. You have St Michaels Mount only a few moments away which you can walk to along the beach front. You’re also in close proximity to other Cornish towns such as St Ives and Mousehole.
So whether like me you’re popping in for some food or you’re down on your hols and are staying the night, you will not be disappointed with Artist Residence and The Cornish Barn. I’ve never eaten in a restaurant which offered such cosy vibes and I will certainly be drawn back in each and every time I’m in the area.
With residences in Brighton, Oxford, London and soon to be Bristol, I’ll be booking a night away in another of their beautiful boutiques asap! Have you ever been?
