It’s not often that I find myself in the Capital, but with tickets to Ben Howard at Brixton O2 as a Christmas present, we set sail for a weekend in the big smoke and opted to spend our Saturday in Shoreditch. I had no desire to head central where it would be busy and hectic so we both agreed to spend some time in trendy Shoreditch and here’s some postcards from our trip!
There’s so many breakfast options around but we settled on Hoi Polloi after having a quick glance at the menu online. Providing there’s a full English in there somewhere, Alex is sold. And I’m a sucker for pancakes. Hoi Polloi is based in the Ace Hotel – which we found out whilst wandering around thinking ‘well the map says we’re here?!’ – it’s got a cool, laid back and eighties vibe inside. It was pretty quiet when we got there but soon filled up.
One thing I loved about Shoreditch was all the graffiti, obviously I couldn’t help but pose in front of it!
Strolling around and heading towards Shoreditch Grind, we saw this donut place and stared at it googley eyed for a while.
We headed to Shoreditch Grind as I’d seen it online and it looked really cool. In reality it was heaving – we didn’t time it very well and rolled up around midday. You couldn’t really fit inside but it did look cool! It’s right in front of a tube stop so as it was freezing cold, we hopped on and headed down to Spitalfields Market.
All the good stuff! I didn’t grab a snack but could have gone mad. We picked up a few things from Tiger, we strolled around and then headed out for some dinner.
We stumbled upon Pizza East near Boxpark, I’d heard it mentioned a few times before so we popped inside and sat down for some pizza. I opted for an Italian meat and burrata and Alex had veal meatballs – both super delicious!
