These things are always a little awkward, huh? Where does one begin, I’m British, naturally I don’t like talking about myself! Well, I’m Jenifer, I’m in my mid twenties and I work full time. My day to day life is quite normal really but aside from being an avid indulger in all things social media, I’ve always had a finger in the blogging community, it’s always felt like home.
My first exposure to blogging was Lily Melrose, or LLYMLRS as she was known back then. I didn’t explore the world much at first, just kept returning to Lily so as far as I was concerned, she was the first and only one doing it and I loved it. I’ve always been that person who never just admires, I admire, I try and sometimes I fail. At first it didn’t go like that, I started a “fashion” blog at sixteen and I actually did okay. Obviously it wasn’t like it is now, I didn’t make much money and there was no Instagram or twitter to monitor your growth – just Bloggers inbuilt and slightly defunked monitoring system and following method.
So college came around and it became harder to hide my little secret hobby to friends. I remember two girls from my year googling a top during a lunch hour (not on phones obviously, that wasn’t happening yet! On the school computers which we were allowed to go on as we were old enough) A photo of me popped up, one I’d taken on a really old digital camera and uploaded on my blog. I insisted it wasn’t me but there is no way they believed me! No one knew the blogging world back then and the only people online were celebs or weird people doing weird things. I eventually gave up blogging and although dipping my toe back in several times since, I never quite gave it enough time or effort to work.
I regret nothing like not continuing with my blog – where could I be now and have far would I have come? But we can’t change things and it seemed like the only option at the time. Blogging has changed so, so much since back in those days. Long time bloggers say it all the time but unless you know, you just don’t know. No one had social media and majority of the time everyone was doing it in secret so there was no way of knowing what your online ‘friends’ were doing unless you came back to their blog. It was so organic and so honest. Not that blogging still can’t be.
So almost ten years have passed, I’m in my mid twenties, I have a career, property and I’m starting again from the bottom. I’m not a sporty person, I don’t thrive to stay in the office until 10pm and I don’t have children therefore I do have spare time and there’s nothing I’ve wanted more than to have a hearty and interesting blog to share my thoughts, photography and loves. So here we are, let’s go for round two!
I know there’s not much to see on here right now, but I’m hoping to get a lot of content up through the next few months so by all means, pop back and see if you’re interested enough to stick around. Of course you can also catch me on Instagram and Twitter and the links for all of that good stuff is at the top of the page.
I’d also love to hear from anyone who’s been around since ‘way back when’ – we can reminisce and laugh about old outfit photos and blog post topics!
